Fabric basket

E-mail Print PDF

This little fabric basket turned out really cute. I love Ayumills tutorial on her Pink Penguin blog. The steps are easy to follow and even a beginner like me can make one. Some pictures of (the creation of) my basket.

The fabrics I chose to use.

Patchwork!

Almost done...

The fabrics I ordered on Etsy.com arrived today. They are really nice and I can't wait to get behind my sewing machine.

Nice give away

E-mail Print PDF

While browsing other blogs I stumbled upon a nice give away of two really cute apple fabrics. It's on the Dutch blogĀ roodmetwittestipjes (they also have a webstore where they sell the fabric). I left a comment on the blog, hoping to win them! Smile

'Give aways' seem to be common in the 'sewing-scene'. And I've also seen 'fabric-swaps', where you send four 'fat quarters' and receive four from someone else. A fun way to get some new fabrics, I'd say! Maybe I'll try it sometime.

Cute apple fabric

E-mail Print PDF

It was the first time for me to buy fabric online (at Etsy.com, great place for buying/selling handmade items and supplies). I ran accross this cute apple fabric and bought it straight away! Hope to receive it in the mail soon! Haven't decided what to make with it yet though. An iPhone pouch perhaps? Or a fabric basket, using the great tutorial on Pink Penguin's website.

My sewing machine

E-mail Print PDF

Recently I discovered sewing.

I'd never touched a sewing machine until a few weeks ago. My hubby had actually found an old Pfaff 9 sewing machine in the trash years ago, even before we met.

Why sewing?

I think I got inspired by all the nice pouches, bags and other things I found on Etsy.com. It made me dig up that old machine and try to figure out how it works. No manual, hmmm...

Luckily YouTube was there to help me out! There are really some great videos and tutorials out there for a newbie like me!

Those videos got me started and I found out that the sewing machine still works great!

A new hobby was born...
